  • Smith: Li xian1sheng, ni3 hao3 ma?
  • Li: Wo3 hen3 hao3. Ni3 ne?
  • Smith: Hen3 hao3, ni3 hen3 gao1.
  • Smith: Zai4jian4!
  • Li: Zai4jian4!

Grammar:

  • Chinese has the same order as English in most cases.
  • "Zai4jian4" literally means "See again", but actually means "Bye". This is a good example of a Chinese meaning differing literally, but meaning the same thing in practice.
  • Particles (such as "Ma" or "Ne") are ALWAYS in neutrals tone.
