Dead Language

What is a Dead Language?

A dead language is a language that is no longer used as a primary language by anyone.

Latin: One Really Dead Language

Latin is an example of a dead language. It was once fashionable among the Romans, however, since the fall of the Roman Empire, it became less fashionable. Latin is still used by scholars and scientists who seem to believe something sounds more authentic the more anal it sounds.1 Therefore Latin does not classify as an extinct language.

Bohemian Romani: Linguicide

Bohemian Romani was a language spoken in Western Bohemia (Western Czech Republic) until the end of WWII. Due to the fact that most speakers were Jewish; and were sent to concentration camps.
