Types of Sentences

There are four types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory.

Declarative Sentence

A declarative sentence makes a statment (or declares something.)

  • Your poodle is rabid.

Interrogative Sentence

An interrogative sentence is otherwise known as a question.

  • Madam, is your poodle rabid?

Imperative Sentence

An imperative sentence gives someone an direct order.

  • Madam! Get your rabid poodle of my leg!

Exclamatory Sentence

An exclamatory sentence exclaims! something. It's kind of like a declarative sentence but excited or otherwise expressing a strong emotion:

  • My god! Your poodle is rabid!
